Team: Píttsburgh Steelers
Best player for you: Ben Roethlisberger
An unforgettable game: Divisional Round 2010 - Steelers 31 x 24 Ravens.
How did you fall in love with NFL? Why did you choose the team?
First, I had never seen any NFL match. I didn’t know anything about the league. In 2009, on Feb. 2nd, I don’t remember how but I was on computer when I saw NFL’s website. I read that about a game the night before. For this, I research and read all highlights and I saw a video and one team turning the table in the last seconds with an incredible touchdown. From this moment, I knew that my life would be linked to NFL, the Sport and the team which I’d discovered sometime after they won the Superbowl. After all this, I read everything about Pittsburgh Steelers, bought DVDs, I watch the games, I read books and this love increases more and more. Now, when I see Steelers in the Field, I can assure you that half of my heart is there as well.
Do you know any team in your city? Do you cheer for them?
Yes, there’s a team named João Pessoa Spectros, three-time Champions in the Northeast championship and semifinalist in Brazilian championship in 2012. I cheer for them and for me it’s gratifying to do so. Besides, they are a promise on football here and for me, someone who lovse the sport and lives in a place with a great team like them is rewarding.
When you sign up on Twitter and why? Did you get a lot of followers? Are you already meeting some fans of your team?
I haven’t promoted any meeting to watch a match yet, I’m just 15 years old and I’m still dependent.
Do you think that football can gain visibility here in Brazil? Can you realize it now or it is distant?
It’s absolutely right that football have been increasing in Brazil. Recently in Recife, the team Recife Mariners brought around 4000 people at the Estádio dos Aflitos. Also, the Cuiaba Arsenal has a huge average attendance. For Brazilian football, this decade is the best one. Moreover, the LFA which is a project that only tends to improve the popularity of the sport here in Brazil.
Is there something in your team that makes you nervous? What?
For sure, what makes me feel nervous on Steelers is the offensive coordinator, Todd Haley. I hate him, I really do! He’s ruining our season! He has a horrible game plan and I’d switch 0-16 for another coordinator on the team.
Can you see some possibility for your team to make the playoffs?
Apart from the Steelers, this season is spectacular. I've never seen a season like that in five years following NFL. The season is so balanced with 5-0 Kansas City Chiefs and New York Giants with 0-6. Most games end with a difference of 7 points or less and that makes the fans of the sport with an emotion at the end of the game that is inexplicable. We are seeing a Denver Broncos, which in my opinion is the best team ever seen by fans of Colorado. The Chiefs are another team that is entering the NFL history after losing 14 games in a season and win the first 5 games of next season. Teams like Cleveland Brown, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis are showing that their future can be promising.
Make a comment about you’ve been seen this season. In your opinion, which teams are going to do everything to make the playoffs and what don’t have any chance?
To be honest, I had expectations with some teams like New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, mainly Steelers. But I’m betting on Denver Broncos and New Orleans Saints for the next Superbowl at the moment.
