Parque do Ibirapuera (Ibirapuera's Park) is a name of the most visited park in São Paulo. By the way, the name comes from the native language and it means “rotten tree”, until 20's the ground was wet meanwhile some people -in this time - had dreamed with a Park. He had been inspired by European parks as Bois de Bologne (Paris) Hyde Park (London) and Central Park (New York), however it caused a lot of frustration for the people who planned it. In 1927, they had a great idea: one county official decided to plant Eucalyptus trees. They are able to provide drainage for the wet ground and they vastly improved the quality for the ground, so the idea to create the park returned, and the county could see a light at the end of the tunnel for the project. Then in 1951, Lucas Garcez, the governor of Sao Paulo, established a framework agreement between companies and government to create Park, and it'll become a commemoration for the 400th anniversary of the founding of the City of Sao Paulo. Oscar Niemmyer, the famous architect who planned Brasilia and other construction projects all around the world, was chosen as the architect for the Park’s project with Burle Marx who planned the landscaping. Thus, the Ibirapuera’s Park was ready to visit. Nowadays, It’s the most visited Park in the city with sport fields, bike lanes, a planetarium, Ibirapuera’s auditorium, a Japanese pavilion and the Bienal of Sao Paulo (a famous auditorium which presented Sao Paulo Fashion Week).
